Senior Advisor
of the Saipa Automotive Department emphasized:
Boycotting
foreign companies based on the national platform.
A senior advisor at the Saipa Automotive Department said: If we can focus on the national platform based on the power of the component manufacturers and foreign engineering and design companies, instead of being sanctioned by foreign countries the automotive industry could boycott some companies and countries from entering Iran's automotive industry.
In a conversation with the “Asre Khodro”
agency, Saeed Madani stated that the boycott of some companies and countries by
Iran is a curious issue and has been mentioned several times, and he said: The
last time that was emphasized by the Iranian automotive industry was when Kia
came to Iran with Serato cars. At that time, the car industry policy council
came up with a cancellation of the Kia and Saipa contract by a Korean partner,
and the company, despite the purchase of equipment, did not start installing
machines for the purpose of producing cars. He added: “At that time, the
Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade had been asked to name the company on
the black list and not allow them to enter Hyundai and Kia cars, which were the
business partners of one another, to Iran, which was announced such a process
is impossible.” This car industry expert, pointing to the boycott of some
companies by Iran at the beginning of the revolution, stated: "At that
time, if a company did not comply with its obligations or under its promise,
the Ministry of Heavy Industries wrote a letter to that company and put it in
the black list, it prohibited the opening of credit clearance and customs
clearance for the company, and with this boycott they entered into negotiations
again and made their commitments to Iran, and Iranian companies served their
rights. But in the past few years, despite Iran's sanctions from foreign
companies, they have never been sanctioned by Iran, which may be due to the
need of the country and the automobile, and the normalization of the situation,
but it was possible that we take another step and stop production permits for
companies that have a site in Iran that do nothing to increase their
production, and allow CBU to be imported only to companies that do not have a
manufacturing site in Iran, which could be become law or directive. The senior
advisor of the Saipa Automotive Department, saying that we always do something
in the last minutes, and in this situation, we give a lot of privileges to the
opposite side, stated: "The best way is to take seriously what started
several years ago. Let's continue to develop our national platform and get it
done fast. Unlike old products, Saipa has developed a new platform that we need
to develop by planning our own platform, but this platform does not mean that
all of its components are shipped from inside the country. He said the platform
does not depend on foreign companies, and can only be developed and implemented
on the basis of the ability of foreign contractors or small engineering and
design firms that are less affected by sanctions. He said that in the current
situation, we should not give up half-done work, adding: "As platforms are
under construction and prototypes are completed, it is easier to reach the
implementation stage and meet legal requirements and become operational. In
this situation, we will have the upper hand in the contracts with foreign
companies. Madani stated: “If the Iranian automotive industry is boycotted with
the platform, it's easy to produce up to one million vehicles, and if they are
not allowed to import the CBU, a limited number of special vehicles that their
production is not efficient in Iran, will get the
importation license, and in this situation Iran has the trump card. The former
CEO of the Saipa Automotive Department, emphasizing that he we accept any
decision and surgery for its pain and bleeding, said: "In the long run,
this process may lead to a decline in the production and cost of some cars, but
if we endure this austerity, with the right planning we can place the right
foreigners into investment in Iran, while preventing the immeasurable imports
of CBU, and we can say that if you boycott Iran, we can boycott you.
He added:
“In these conditions, in the contracts we can change the situation in Iran's
favor, since in the contract with foreign partners; exportation, technical
knowledge transfer, and the link between domestic and foreign contractors is
currently foreseen but these cases have not entered into an executive phase,
which is a good excuse to deal with these companies and to deal with them, we
need to have something in hand and it requires the design and implementation of
national platforms.
